Veshengro WoodWorks

Part of Wood, Leather & Recycled

Hand-carved wooden spoons, spatulas, stirrers & other wooden wares for daily use.

Handmade in the style and tradition of the Rom Polska (Gypsies from Poland) with some styles from other Gypsy groups by a Romani craftsman and all made from local (to the maker) woods.

Most wood used for the products is the result of prunings and woodland management work in a local park which otherwise would either be chipped, burned or otherwise disposed off.

All products are carved by hand using predominately small axe, straight knives and spoon knife (hook knife/gouge) and made with love and passion. Love for the wood and passion for the craft.

How to buy from Veshengro WoodWorks?

While the photos for the different products are made by me, each and every spoon, or whatever, looks different due to variations of wood, grain, etc., and is totally unique. A variety of woods are used to make the products and each and every piece is carved by hand with the grain dictating shape to a great extent.

Therefore, the item you receive when purchasing may vary slightly in shape and such from the one that is shown in the photo. The item, due to the variety of woods that I am using, may also not be of the same wood as the item in the picture. That, however, will have no impact on its usability and also should have none on its durability.

Featured Products shown are all one off items. Once they are gone, they are gone, though similar ones may be made again and will then be featured in the same way.

I only accept PayPal as method of payment at the present for online trade and all prices include postage and packing (shipping & handling) for United Kingdom where shipping is by Royal Mail Second Class.

Customers outside of the United Kingdom will be billed, after their completed purchase, once their shipping address is known, via PayPal invoice for shipping to their respective country. Shipping to Europe is by Royal Mail Standard and by Surface Mail to the rest of the world (unless customer is prepared to pay the high cost of air freight).

N.B. As I do not have automated stock control the case may arise that I am out of stock of something that you have ordered you can either get a full refund or have this item made specially. The choice will be yours entirely.

About the Maker

My name is Michael and my Romani name is Veshengro. I come from a Romani family who traditionally made wooden spoons and such and also made knives.

I am a forester by trade and work in a municipal park as the groundsman and all products are predominately made from wood that is the result of some kind of management work and which would otherwise be disposed off by chipping, burning or the landfill. Thus all products are truly sustainable and, if treated properly, will last for a long time; generations probably.

Location

On Sundays, from about March until October/November, when there is no rain/inclement weather in the forecast, products can also be purchased in person at my little market stall in the front yard of the Lodge.
